As of 20 October 2026, one Hahoe Seonyu Julbul Nori session remains: Saturday, 24 October, 18:00–21:00. The World Heritage Festival ends on 25 October. If that night event is your priority, make Hahoe Village the only fixed heritage stop and treat Byeongsan Seowon as optional. Public transport reaches Hahoe on bus 210, but the Hahoe–Byeongsan connection is too fragile to promise around an evening reservation.
The decision: Hahoe only by bus, or Hahoe plus Byeongsan with controlled transport
The festival’s English directions page tells visitors to use bus 210 from Andong Terminal or Andong Station to Hahoe Village. It does not publish a dependable public-transport transfer from Hahoe to Byeongsan for the event day. Choose one of these plans:

A completed May 2026 trip by Joel Klebanoff shows why the distinction matters. After a morning in Hahoe, he found the mapped bus was not running to the stop because of traffic, failed to secure Uber three times, and eventually got a taxi through k.ride. His trip succeeded, but it is evidence for leaving a buffer, not for publishing a fixed transfer time.
A workable 24 October event day
- Reach Hahoe on bus 210 or controlled transport. The official page names both Andong Station and Andong Terminal as boarding points. Check the live Korean transit listing before departure because the festival page gives the route number, not a full timetable.
- Visit the village before late afternoon. Hahoe is a living village, not a set. Keep voices low near homes and separate ordinary admission from festival reservations.
- Skip Byeongsan if the transfer is uncertain. Do not spend the event buffer waiting for an infrequent bus or an unconfirmed taxi.
- Move toward Mansongjeong well before 18:00. The official access note says the walk from the village entrance to Mansongjeong is about 10 minutes after the parking-area shuttle.
- Expect conditional shuttles. If the Hahoe Village parking lot is full, a shuttle runs from the temporary parking lot to the ticket office from 12:00 to 18:30. If riverside lots 1–3 are full, a shuttle runs from the ticket office to the general information center from 16:30 to 21:00.
- Check weather and reservation status again. The official FAQ says weather can change the fire-play programme, and the programme page directs reservation-required sessions to an external booking flow.
The shuttle windows are crowd responses, not a promise that every shuttle runs regardless of parking conditions. Heritage admission can also be separate from the festival programme.
When Byeongsan is worth adding
Byeongsan Seowon is part of the UNESCO property “Seowon, Korean Neo-Confucian Academies,” while Hahoe belongs to “Historic Villages of Korea: Hahoe and Yangdong.” They make a strong heritage pair, but geography alone does not create a reliable transit connection.
A 2026 monitor-tour account by Hirono Takahashi covered Hahoe, Byeongsan, Buyongdae and the evening fire play by chartered bus. The author explicitly says the charter removed the need to solve transfers and post-event transport. That account supports a guided or pre-arranged option, not the claim that an independent visitor can copy the same day by local bus.
Joel’s account also identifies a marked walking trail from Hahoe to Byeongsan that signs described as about 90 minutes. Treat that as a hike requiring daylight, weather readiness and confirmation that the trail is open; it is not an event-night shortcut.
What completed travelers add
Three independent accounts give useful, limited lessons:
- Hirono Takahashi, August 2026: a chartered monitor tour made the multi-stop day and evening event manageable; the author says independent travel would require timetable, transfer and post-event checks.
- Joel Klebanoff, May 2026: the Hahoe-to-Byeongsan transfer broke down under traffic, ride-hailing failed repeatedly and k.ride finally produced a taxi.
- Helena, October 2009: a Traditional Chinese trip diary stayed inside Hahoe, walked the village early and combined a guided village visit with the mask-dance performance. Its old bus numbers and fares are obsolete and are not reused here.
These accounts do not establish a current timetable. They explain why the route should be simplified or pre-arranged.
After the festival
After 25 October, use this article’s ordinary route rule and ignore the 2026 event shuttle section: bus 210 for a Hahoe-focused public-transport day, or controlled transport for Hahoe plus Byeongsan. Do not assume the fire play repeats on every autumn Saturday.
