Andong’s main heritage sites are not all in one direction. Hahoe Village and Byeongsan Seowon pair naturally, while Dosan Seowon and Woryeonggyo are better treated as another time block. This guide was rebuilt from Andong tourism information, the official 2026 World Heritage Festival site and the reviewed booking page on September 14, 2026. First-person visit claims and unverified prices or restaurant details have been removed.

The short answer: make Hahoe–Byeongsan the day’s core and match the fire-play date
With one day, use Hahoe Village → Byeongsan Seowon as the main heritage block. Adding Dosan Seowon and Woryeonggyo makes the day transfer-heavy, so a night is worthwhile if Dosan is a priority.
The official 2026 World Heritage Festival Andong runs from October 9 to 25. Its programme page lists Hahoe Seonyu Julbul Nori on October 10, 17 and 24. The programme is date-specific and some sessions require reservations, so do not carry forward older lists of dates or prices.
Places and conditions
| Place or event | Role | Verified condition |
|---|---|---|
| Hahoe Village | The first heritage anchor | It was inscribed in 2010 as part of the UNESCO “Historic Villages of Korea: Hahoe and Yangdong.” It remains a living village; check admission, shuttle and parking conditions for your date. |
| Byeongsan Seowon | A natural pairing with Hahoe | The official festival programme treats it as a separate heritage venue near Hahoe. Check the current access and operating notice. |
| Dosan Seowon | A second-day eastern zone | It is in a different direction from Hahoe and Byeongsan, so keep it as a day-two choice. Festival-period programmes may have their own times. |
| Hahoe fire play | A date-specific night event | The 2026 official festival dates are October 10, 17 and 24. Weather can change the programme; apply through the detailed programme page when reservation is required. |
| Woryeonggyo | An urban evening walk | It belongs to the city zone rather than the Hahoe block. Use it on arrival night or day two instead of forcing it into the heritage loop. |

Hahoe is not simply an open-air collection of old buildings. The official introduction describes a living heritage where residents still live and traditions continue. Walk quietly through the lanes, and keep regular village viewing separate from scheduled mask-dance or fire-play programmes.
Suggested routes
Day trip
- Travel from Andong Station or downtown to Hahoe Village.
- Visit Hahoe first, then add Byeongsan Seowon according to the official access information.
- Return to the city for a market meal or Woryeonggyo if time allows.
- On a fire-play date, follow the festival’s reservation and shuttle instructions rather than a normal sightseeing timetable.
One night
- Day 1: Hahoe Village → Byeongsan Seowon → city meal → Woryeonggyo
- Day 2: Dosan Seowon or a Dosan programme → return to the station or downtown
- October 10, 17 or 24 option: reserve the fire-play session first, then work backwards from its time
If you are using public transport, check the festival shuttle or city-tour notice before relying on a regular bus plan. A rental car does not remove festival-day parking and shuttle restrictions.
Booking option and affiliate disclosure
For a guided visit to Hahoe Village and Byeongsan Seowon, compare the small-group Andong Hahoe–Byeongsan docent tour. The page displayed KRW 24,900 on September 14, 2026 and describes a group of 6–10 people. The guide fee is included, while admission and snacks are excluded; confirm the meeting point, participant range and date before payment.

Fire-play and transport checks
- The official festival FAQ says most festival programmes are free, but heritage admission and some reserved programmes may be separate.
- The fire-play dates are listed as October 10, 17 and 24, but weather can change them.
- During the festival, verify the station shuttle stop and timetable in the current notice.
- Andong jjimdak and the old market are useful food options, but this guide does not promise a particular shop’s price or hours.
Andong works best when Hahoe and Byeongsan are one heritage block, while Dosan and Woryeonggyo are planned separately. Seonyu Julbul Nori is not a generic “every autumn Saturday” event: check the official session and reservation status first.
