Start with the palace. Then decide whether your remaining time belongs to a Jongno walk, Insadong shops or an indoor backup.

Make the palace the anchor
The simplest one-day plan is to choose one palace and begin around Gwanghwamun. Use Jongno and Insadong as the walk that follows, rather than trying to collect every landmark.
Published Seoul itinerary guidance treats Jongno as a one- or two-day area. That makes one palace a sensible anchor when your day also includes meals, pauses and a return journey.

Add Insadong without overpacking
Place Insadong after the palace if you want a traditional-street atmosphere and small shops. Keep lunch or a café break between the two so the final walk can be shortened.
This is an editing order, not a guaranteed fastest route. Palace closures, events, weather and your time inside each place can change the sequence.
Keep an indoor fallback
Rain can turn a walking plan into a stop-and-start day. Keep a bookstore, museum or café candidate as a flexible second half, and confirm each venue’s current hours separately.
Do not read the backup list as a promise that every venue is open on your date.
Before you go
-
Check the selected palace’s closure and event notices.
-
Connect the final walking leg and return transfer in a map app.
-
Leave one indoor candidate for rain or a slower morning.

Gangnam cafés by purpose: dessert and photos or work and quiet?
In Gangnam, narrow café choices by purpose—dessert, photos, work or quiet—before choosing a neighbourhood.
Gangnam city tour bus or self-guided transfers? Check current operation first
Do not choose the Gangnam city tour bus on convenience alone; compare its current route and operating days with self-guided transfers for your date.
Can you fit Garosu-gil, Apgujeong Rodeo, Cheongdam and COEX into one day?
Gangnam's four areas work better as selected destination clusters with separate transfers than as one continuous walk.
