Yeosu is not a compact sightseeing cluster. The city’s official tourism map separates the Expo–Odongdo area, the downtown zone around Yi Sun-sin Square and Jinnamgwan, and the Dolsan–Hyangiram area. For a first visit, decide which zones to combine rather than trying to see everything. This guide was checked against Yeosu’s tourism information and the booking page on September 14, 2026; unverified restaurant claims, prices and first-hand experiences have been removed.

The short answer: use downtown and Expo for one day, add Dolsan for an overnight
For a day trip, the simplest sequence is Yeosu Expo Station → Odongdo and the Expo area → Yi Sun-sin Square and Jinnamgwan → the Marine Cable Car or the night waterfront. Adding Hyangiram on the same day makes the itinerary heavily dependent on long transfers, so move it to the following morning unless sunrise is not part of your plan.
For one night, keep the first day in the downtown and Expo zones, then use the second day for Dolsan and Hyangiram. Yeosu’s official map also groups Odongdo, the Expo area, Hyangiram and the Marine Cable Car into day and overnight routes, but your actual timing will depend on transport and how long you stay at each stop.
Key places and what was verified
| Place | Role in the itinerary | Verified point and caution |
|---|---|---|
| Odongdo and the Expo area | An easy first zone after arrival | Yeosu’s official map places Odongdo, the Expo grounds and Aqua Planet together. Check each facility’s admission and hours for your date. |
| Yeosu Marine Cable Car | A viewpoint option between downtown and Dolsan | The city describes a 1.5 km cable car linking Dolsan and Jasan Park, and calls it Korea’s first marine cable car. Check the operator’s current hours, fare and weather policy. |
| Yi Sun-sin Square and Jinnamgwan | Downtown history and food zone | Both appear together in the city’s official routes. Jinnamgwan’s access status can change during works, so check the current notice if interior access matters. |
| Hyangiram | A second-day sunrise or Dolsan stop | Yeosu lists it among its scenic highlights. Confirm early-morning access, parking and temple-area conditions before planning sunrise. |

The cable car suits travellers who want a single elevated view of the coast and Dolsan. It is not mandatory: if the wait is long or the weather turns poor, use Dolsan Park or a downtown waterfront walk instead. Read the current operator page for cabin type, one-way/return conditions and service status before buying.
Suggested routes
Day trip
- Arrive at Yeosu Expo Station and walk through Odongdo and the Expo area.
- Eat in the Yi Sun-sin Square or central-market area. Yeosu’s official food list includes gejang, seodae hoe and Dolsan mustard-leaf kimchi; this guide does not guarantee a particular restaurant’s hours or price.
- Spend the afternoon around Jinnamgwan or downtown, then choose the cable car if the weather and queue make sense.
- Finish around the night waterfront, including Jongpo or the Romantic Pocha area, after checking each venue’s opening and payment conditions.
One night
- Day 1: Odongdo and the Expo area → Yi Sun-sin Square and Jinnamgwan → downtown waterfront at night
- Day 2: Hyangiram or a Dolsan morning → Marine Cable Car and Dolsan Park → seafood market
If sunrise is the priority, stay closer to Hyangiram. If rail access is more important, stay near the station or downtown and split the Dolsan movement into a separate day. Dolsan and Hyangiram are a different zone from central Yeosu, so leave time for bus intervals or a taxi wait.
Booking option and affiliate disclosure
If you want to bundle a marine activity in advance, compare the Yeosu marine zip-line and Marine Cable Car package. The page displayed KRW 43,900 when checked on September 14, 2026, but the date, weather, inclusions and cancellation terms can change. It is not a cable-car-only ticket or a Hyangiram admission link, so check the product scope before paying.

Before you leave
- Check KTX times and fares by origin and date on Korail. Do not assume that the station, downtown and Dolsan can be covered with the same transport plan.
- The cable car may be affected by wind, rain or other operating conditions.
- Sunrise at Hyangiram means an early transfer; decide where you will sleep and how you will return before fixing the route.
- Gejang, seodae hoe and mustard-leaf kimchi are regional foods, but price, ingredients and allergy information vary by shop.
Yeosu becomes easier when you treat downtown/Expo and Dolsan/Hyangiram as two separate planning blocks. Keep the first day close to the station and city centre, then use an overnight for the coastal east side.
