Choose the bike park before booking your train
For a Seoul day trip combining a rail bike with Nami Island, choose Gapyeong Rail Bike: its electric-assisted out-and-back course keeps the activity in the same town as the Nami ferry connection. Choose Gimyujeong Rail Bike, often sold as Gangchon Rail Bike, if the rail ride itself is the main attraction and you want themed tunnels followed by a train ride. These are different boarding points, so the word “Gangchon” on a booking page needs a second look.
The rail bike ties you to a booked departure, while a Nami Island visit also includes a ferry crossing in each direction. For a day without a tour guide, plan on the bike and one other major attraction.
| Your priority | Better choice | What to give up |
|---|---|---|
| Nami Island plus a gentle ride | Gapyeong | A different view on the return journey |
| Tunnels, changing scenery and a short train ride | Gimyujeong | The convenience of staying around Gapyeong town |
| Lowest bike cost for a party of four | Gapyeong | ₩8,000 buys the different Gimyujeong experience, not a faster transfer |
| Avoiding a taxi after the local train | Gimyujeong | You still need time for the activity’s return shuttle |
For the Seoul train, Nami ferry and broader day-trip choices, use the Nami Island transport guide. This guide settles which rail bike to put into that day.

The route difference matters more than the extra fare
Gapyeong is an 8 km round trip to Gyeonggang Station and back. The motor engages as you pedal; the river bridge and tree-lined stretches are the draw. Returning along the same track is a practical advantage if you want your next connection to start where you left your taxi or car. Skip it if repeating the scenery would disappoint you.
Gimyujeong runs 6 km on the rail bike, followed by 2.5 km on the Romance Train. The themed tunnels suit visitors who want the rail ride to feel like a distinct activity rather than another park walk. It is a one-way course, with a free shuttle back to the starting point, so include that return in your afternoon plan. Skip it if Nami is the main reason for leaving Seoul and you only want a short add-on around Gapyeong.
A Phoenixtrails account of a 12 September 2023 visit, published in March 2025 timed boarding at 09:54 and the midpoint arrival at 10:20, then described a break and the Romance Train. Those 26 minutes cover that visitor’s cycling segment, not the whole activity. Their tour allocated 09:30–11:00 to the rail-bike stop. Use about 90 minutes as an initial activity allowance, then add your transport and the return shuttle separately.
What your group actually pays
The operator charges per bike, not per rider. On 1 October 2026, the posted prices were ₩36,000/₩48,000 for a two-/four-seater at Gapyeong and ₩40,000/₩56,000 at Gimyujeong. A party of three needs a four-seater.

The table below divides those fares by the actual party size. It includes the bike only, without Seoul transport, taxis, food or Nami admission; the three-person Gimyujeong amount is rounded to the nearest won.
| Riders sharing one bike | Bike | Gapyeong total / per rider | Gimyujeong total / per rider | Gapyeong saves per party |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 2-seater | ₩36,000 / ₩36,000 | ₩40,000 / ₩40,000 | ₩4,000 |
| 2 | 2-seater | ₩36,000 / ₩18,000 | ₩40,000 / ₩20,000 | ₩4,000 |
| 3 | 4-seater | ₩48,000 / ₩16,000 | ₩56,000 / ₩18,667 | ₩8,000 |
| 4 | 4-seater | ₩48,000 / ₩12,000 | ₩56,000 / ₩14,000 | ₩8,000 |
Four friends at Gapyeong save ₩24,000 by sharing one four-seater instead of taking two two-seaters: ₩72,000 minus ₩48,000. At Gimyujeong, the same calculation saves ₩24,000: ₩80,000 minus ₩56,000. Before any reseller discount, that is the exact extra cost if two couples prefer separate bikes. It is larger than the price difference between the two parks.
Do not assume a solo booking buys one discounted seat beside strangers. Budget for the whole bike unless your selected product explicitly sells a shared seat. The operator also separates two- and four-seater departures, so a larger group should settle bike size before booking.
Get to the right boarding point
For Gapyeong Rail Bike, take the ITX-Cheongchun or Gyeongchun local train to Gapyeong Station, then a taxi. The operator estimates ten minutes from the station. Show the driver 가평레일바이크, 경기도 가평군 가평읍 장터길 14. The current passenger station and the rail-bike boarding point are not the same place.
For Gimyujeong Rail Bike, the Gyeongchun local train to Gimyujeong Station puts you a three-minute walk away by the operator’s estimate. An ITX journey needs a transfer: the official directions use Namchuncheon, then the local train back to Gimyujeong. Do not expect the ITX to deliver you to this boarding point. The destination is 김유정레일바이크, 강원도 춘천시 신동면 김유정로 1383.
A short walk from the station does not necessarily mean a shorter trip from your hotel. Pick the attraction first, then find a train connection that gets you there by check-in.

What riders’ reports change about the plan
Three separate Gapyeong customer reports highlight details a fare table misses:
- Siti, review posted 11 February 2025: arrived by ITX, made the bike the first stop and found the electric motor eased the ride.
- Warren, 12 November 2024: a group of two adults and two elders initially went to the wrong rail-bike station.
- Hencris, 10 January 2026: encountered strong cold wind and recommended thick clothing and face protection.
Those are review dates, not confirmed visit dates. Taken together, the reports suggest a simple plan: make the booked ride your first fixed appointment, save the complete boarding address, and dress for an exposed track. Electric assistance reduces pedalling effort; it does not shelter you from weather.

Booking and the conditions to check once
Use the operator’s English reservation entry from its booking guide, select the course and bike size, and keep the confirmation number. Arrive at least 20 minutes before departure. Confirm the checkout accepts your payment card and phone-number format before paying. A reseller voucher can require earlier arrival and has its own cancellation terms.
Same-day online reservations are not offered under that guide; remaining on-site tickets are first come, first served. To change a confirmed date, time or bike count, you must cancel and book again. Light rain does not automatically cancel the ride, and the fare pages apply cancellation rules on rainy days.
Before buying, settle these details in one pass:
- The date-specific departure offered in the calendar, especially on holidays.
- Your actual bike size and whether everyone can ride in the same departure group.
- The selected seller’s refund deadline and weather notice.
- Child eligibility with the operator if travelling with an infant; the published safety and fare pages give different under-36-month wording.
For most adults adding a ride to Nami, Gapyeong is the straightforward choice. Pay the small Gimyujeong premium when its tunnels and train ride are the reason for the excursion, then leave enough room for the return shuttle.
