Naejangsan Autumn Day Trip: Protect the Flat Route Before Adding the Cable Car

For a one-day Naejangsan autumn trip, protect the visitor-center–Uhwajeong–maple-path–Naejangsa walk first. Add the cable car or a reserved mountain trail only after the current queue, weather and return connection are clear. The flat route still delivers the park’s signature foliage when the mountain add-on does not fit.

Use the 2026 window, then check the live color

Jeongeup’s 2026 field plan expected first color around 29 October and peak color around 7–8 November. The city scheduled foliage-season management from 26 October to 22 November, with intensive management from 31 October to 15 November. Those dates are a planning window, not a guarantee for one tree or one slope.

Check the park’s current notices, trail controls and live conditions again about a week before travel and on the morning of departure. A shift of several days can change whether the lower maple path or the higher slopes look better.

Separate the easy foliage walk from the reserved trail

The Korea National Park Service identifies Uhwajeong, Naejangsa and the natural maple-tunnel path as core Naejangsan sights. The Forest Service route also orders the visitor-support center, Uhwajeong, Iljumun, the maple tunnel and Naejangsa before the summit route.

The 2026 Soraebong reservation is a separate mountain choice: the KNPS page lists operation from 18 October to 16 November, entry from 09:00 to 15:00, and internet reservation or on-site registration subject to capacity. Do not confuse that rule with a blanket reservation for the flat temple walk. Check the exact trail you plan to enter.

KNPS also warns that vehicle access inside the park is difficult during the October–November peak. Jeongeup’s current seasonal plan confirms that traffic and safety controls are active. If driving, follow the same-day traffic direction and official parking signs rather than an old private-lot price. If arriving by rail or bus, use a live local route from Jeongeup and leave a return buffer; a bus number reported by a 2025 traveler is useful context, not a 2026 promise.

Decide on the cable car at the park

Treat the cable car as optional. Its operating conditions, ticketing and queue can change, and this guide does not publish an unverified fare or timetable. If the queue would remove the maple path or threaten the return, skip it.

That choice is supported by completed trips:

• igoiseeishoot visited on 17 November 2025, arrived early on a weekday, walked the maple path and Uhwajeong area, and returned to Jeongeup by local bus.
• Square-Grapefruit717 reported a completed November visit and said the afternoon light on the maples was worth the trip, while the cable car added less value for them.
• Deborah reviewed a completed 15 November 2025 tour: the intermediate route included slopes and rocky sections, while an easier group used a different route. The temple and pavilion remained part of the payoff.

A robust day therefore has two layers. The base is the visitor-center, pavilion, maple path and temple sequence. The upgrade is the cable car or Soraebong trail after current controls and time are checked. Preserve the base before adding the upgrade.
