Three completed stays show why the overnight choice changes the route. One completed Hakone report found that a full loop consumed much of the day. A completed September stay treated the ryokan check-in and dinner time as a firm boundary rather than an optional stop. A May 2025 walking trip spent two nights in a historic ryokan and used the quieter evening and early morning for Gora, Lake Ashi and the ropeway. These are individual experiences, but together they support leaving transfer slack and choosing the ryokan area from the stops before and after check-in.
