Start with where you want to collect your bag

Choose storage if you will return to the same station. Consider hotel delivery if you want your suitcase waiting at your accommodation later, provided the hotel and drop-off time qualify. Station storage and hotel delivery have different collection points and deadlines.

On departure day, start with the time you need your bag back. An evening delivery window may be too late for your plans. Keep anything you need during the day with you.

Lockers at Hakata and Tenjin

Nishitetsu Station Service lists small, medium and large lockers at the subway stations of Hakata, Tenjin and Tenjin Minami for JPY 500, JPY 700 and JPY 900 respectively. These prices cover the listed subway lockers, not every locker in the JR Hakata Station complex.

The listed large compartment measures 35.5 cm wide, 84.3 cm high and 57.5 cm deep. Compare those dimensions with the outside of your case, including wheels and handles. A suitcase’s advertised inch size is not enough for that comparison.

The operator’s location guide identifies Hakata-guchi, Central Exit and Chikushi-guchi groups at Hakata, and East and West Exit groups at Tenjin. Treat the map as a way to find lockers, not a reservation. Bags cannot be retrieved from these station lockers after the last train.

Crosta Hakata: staffed storage and hotel delivery

Crosta is on JR Hakata Station’s second floor, outside the Shinkansen Hikari Plaza ticket gate. Storage costs JPY 1,000 per item per day; the counter opens 09:00–20:00 every day. A new chargeable day starts at midnight, rather than after a rolling 24-hour period.

For delivery from Hakata Station to an eligible Fukuoka hotel, the price is JPY 1,500 per item, with drop-off by 14:00 and hotel collection after 18:00. A specific arrival time cannot be requested. Search your exact hotel in the eligible accommodation list and check the station-to-hotel direction.

Items over 2 m long or 30 kg are excluded, as are valuables and precision equipment such as laptops. A large case being unsuitable for a locker does not guarantee counter acceptance: Crosta can also stop taking bags when full.

If you leave a stored bag past 20:00, collection is from 09:00 the following day and an additional fee applies. Add that collection deadline to your departure-day plan.

DELIBAG at Fukuoka Airport

DELIBAG is in the pre-security area on the International Terminal’s first floor, with counter hours of 08:00–18:00. Airport-to-hotel delivery accepts bags from 08:00 to 15:00; the stated hotel arrival window is 15:30–19:00. The counter’s closing time does not extend the delivery cutoff.

Delivery is limited to hotels in Fukuoka City’s Chuo and Hakata wards. The application requires a listed hotel; unmanned hotels and guesthouses require an enquiry to the operator first. Check the actual property, not just its neighbourhood.

On 2026-09-06, the official online application showed JPY 1,200 for one suitcase with combined length, width and height under 140 cm. This is a checked size-and-count example, not a universal or walk-in tariff. Enter your own bags in the official application and check the amount before paying. Prepare booking confirmation showing the hotel name, reservation holder and check-in date.

Temporary storage at the airport is a separate service at JPY 500 per item per business day. If you use it, plan to return within the counter’s 08:00–18:00 hours and agree the collection time when handing over the bag.

If delivery does not fit your day

If you miss the cutoff or your hotel does not qualify, look for storage near a place you will return to, or ask your booked accommodation about its own luggage policy. Do not use the Fukuoka city delivery conditions above to assume same-day delivery to Yufuin.

Allow time to collect your bag. A useful storage location is one you can get back to before it closes.
